The Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2020 being announced gives fans a chance to look ahead at the potential Class of 2021 which includes a name familiar to many around Boston.Celtics legend and ESPN analyst Paul Pierce is the crown jewel of a fairly weak pool of players for voters in 2021. Metta World Peace, David Lee and Tayshaun Prince make up the rest of the list of notable players making their first appearance on the ballot in 2021.
Pierce is a lock to be inducted on the first ballot. As a 10-time All-Star, 4-time All-NBA selection and Finals MVP, Pierce’s accomplishments far outweigh those of anyone else on the 2021 ballot. This means Pierce is sure to be the center of attention at next year’s enshrinement ceremony. A few other players left over on the ballot from 2020 who could benefit from a weak ballot and have a chance at being inducted with Pierce include Chris Webber, Chauncey Billups, Chris Bosh and Amar’e Stoudemire.
Shams Charania of the Athletic reported on Friday that Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020.
