First things first, wow right? Parkers new deal is 3 years and worth up to $33 million that includes $14 million in guaranteed money. Parkers deal is also loaded with incentives. This deal does shock me a little bit. With all the talks of Hopkins coming to New England, I for sure thought Parker would be the lone man out. Now, Parker is here to stay. In his first season with the Patriots, Parker had 31 receptions for 539 yards and three touchdowns. Parker is valued by the Patriots a lot it seems now. They love his ability to catch the 50/50 ball. Parker has also had a really solid start to the spring. He blocked out all the Hopkins news and balled out.
Now that the Patriots have extended Parker, what does this mean for Hopkins? Well first, I don’t think he’s coming to New England. Unless they sign Hopkins to a one year deal, I’m not sure how they get it done. Who would they cut? Parker is now locked in as the “X” receiver. Lets hope Parker can stay healthy now.
But if you wanna look at the positives with all the Hopkins news, this move did free up $4M. So….I guess there still is a chance!
