People Seem to Forget the Fact That the Celtics Have a Fourth Star

Alright NBA fans, and even you Celtics fans that seem to forget, the Celtics don’t just have a Big Three on the squad… they have a Big Four. All of the buzz is centered around Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kemba Walker. Which, in reality, is rightfully so. Those are the three best players on the Celtics right now.  However, why does the conversation stop there? Why do even us Celtics fans seem to overlook the fact that there is another star on the squad? Another guy that can go for 30+ on any given night.  Gordon Hayward is the name people leave out of the conversation far too often.

It is like the NBA world only remembers his injury and his lack-luster season a year ago.  They all ignore the fact that, as a fourth option, he is currently averaging over 17 points, close to 7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. All while shooting over 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep.  I will even throw in, before the hand injury, Hayward was averaging over 20 points and 8 rebounds per game. Again, all as the true fourth option on a team. If he was the first option on some terrible franchise, he’d be blowing those numbers out of the water.

Hayward has only had three better seasons to date compared to the one he is having this year. Those three were when he was just about at the point of being renowned as an absolute superstar. So why the hesitation to even call him a star now? Oh, just because there are three bigger stars on the team? That is ridiculous.  That is like saying “oh this team has Jordan, LeBron, and Magic… so we can’t deem Larry Bird a star.”

Just because there are bigger fish in the pond, doesn’t mean Gordon Hayward can’t be accepted as a big fish.

Now, I know there are so many of you out there just like me. You believe in Hayward. You’ve never lost hope in the guy.  So kudos to us, because once the NBA season gets going again, you know as well as I do… Gordon Hayward is about to prove a whole lot of people wrong and I can’t wait.
