Mets, Samsung Partner to Build Most Technologically Advanced Park in MLB

Samsung Electronics America is the New York Mets’ official display and technology solutions partner to create a new interactive experience for fans at Citi Field, the team announced.

The goal of the partnership is to foster the first connected venue in MLB and bring the most state-of-the-art technology to the ballpark. To do this, the organizations will deploy new ribbon boards and more than 1,300 LCD screens to show fans where the shortest lines are so they do not miss out on the game.

“Baseball is one of America’s great historical pastimes and thanks to cutting-edge display- and data-driven innovation, we are ushering in a new, exciting era that transforms the ballpark experience and brings fans into the game like never before,” Harry Patz Jr., senior vice president and general manager of the display division at Samsung Electronics, said in a statement

Additional enhancements include a ballpark-wide IPTV system with nearly 100 channels of sports and entertainment content, two-times the number of slow-motion replay systems and three times as many cameras to increase game coverage, and an enhanced and fully upgraded scoreboard to display the latest LED technology and operate 4K video.

The upgrades and technology integrations make Citi Field a leader in innovative displays.

“Technology is central to the way fans enjoy sports, and we are thrilled to bring Samsung’s full display portfolio, solutions and expertise to this new era of fandom,” Patz Jr. said.

The project is expected to take place over the next two years.
