Gotham FC’s Imani Dorsey Called Up to USWNT Roster

NJ/NY Gotham FC defender Imani Dorsey was called up to the BioSteel Training Camp roster for the U.S. Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) two-game trip to Australia.

Dorsey, 25, was the National Women’s Soccer League Rookie of the Year in 2018 before the team’s rebrand. She played 16 games this season for Gotham.

A former ACC Offensive Player of the Year at Duke in 2017, Dorsey will add depth to the outside backs and bring the roster up to 23. This is her second call-up for a full USWNT event.

Dorsey was at head coach Vlatko Adonovski’s first training camp in Nov. 2019 and was present at the USWNT’s Identification training camp in Dec. 2019.

She joins Alana Cook (OL Reign), Abby Dahlkemper (Houston Dash), Tierna Davis (Chicago Red Stars), Emily Fox (Racing Louisville FC), Sofia Huerta (OL Reign), Becky Sauerbrunn (Portland Thorns), and Emily Sonnet (Washington Spirit) in the backfield.

She will potentially play alongside Gotham teammate Margaret Purce.

This marks the USWNT’s first trip to Australia in 21 years. Most recently, the team played to a 0-0 draw and 4-3 win against the Matildas in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The first game of the final two friendlies of the year is on Friday, Nov. 26 at 11 p.m. ET on FS2. Game two will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 4:05 a.m. ET on ESPN.
