Celtics Select Juhann Begarin With 45th Pick: Here’s What You Should Know About Him

The Celtics waited until the second round to make their first and only pick of the 2021 NBA Draft and selected Juhann Begarin from France. Begarin spent last season in France’s B League playing for Paris. He averaged 11.9 points per game and shot 36.4% from three. Recent reports state that Begarin will join the Celtics summer league roster in Las Vegas.

Begarin is a 6’5″ guard who can play either position in the backcourt. He was one of the youngest players in the draft at 18 years old, but he will turn 19 on August 7th. He ranked 36th on Chad Ford’s big board.

Keith Smith of Spotrac is reporting that Begarin is likely a draft-and-stash player and won’t join the Celtics next season.

It appears Brad Stevens wants to keep his flexibility with the roster open as Boston moves into the next stages of the offseason.
