Danny Ainge Thinks Everybody on the Celtics is “Really Anxious” to Play

Danny Ainge was a guest on Zach Lowe’s podcast on Thursday and Lowe asked Ainge about how his players feel about returning to play amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ainge says no one has expressed any concerns yet, but believes the reason for that to be because the league is “not close” to returning yet rather than a sign that his players have no qualms about going back to work. “Our next phase is we’ll open up our facility… I don’t think anybody is afraid of that. If I said we’re two or three weeks away from playing, I’m sure there would be some players who would have some trepidation, but I think everybody is just really anxious to play right now. That’s what I think.”

Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that Adam Silver informed the NBA Board of Goveners that he is planning to decide whether or not the league will continue the 2019-20 NBA season within the next two to four weeks.

Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum is reportedly included in a small group of NBA players that is conferring with the league in their discussions to return to play. The league expects 22 of their 30 teams to open their practice facilities by May 18th.
