Free agent WR Terrelle Pryor went on a video call with TMZ in which he revealed his agent has been in contract talks with Patriots and the Steelers.
Pryor, a converted quarterback, has been out of the league since being released by the Jaguars after training camp in 2019. His best season came in 2016 with the Cleveland Browns in which he hauled in 77 catches for 1,007 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Pryor was in critical condition at the hospital last November after being stabbed in the shoulder by his girlfriend. He was subsequently arrested on a simple assault charge. Pryor’s girlfriend faced an attempted murder charge which was dropped in February.
The Patriots current wide receiver depth chart includes Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Mohamed Sanu, Jakobi Meyers, Marqise Lee, Damiere Byrd and Gunner Olzewski. New England’s wide receiving core has been criticized for being one of the weakest in the league, but Pryor would still be far from a lock to make the roster. The Patriots recently freed up over $7 million in cap space after settling contract disputes with Antonio Brown and Aaron Hernandez, but it’s unlikely Pryor would demand a contract much higher than the league minimum.
