NYCFC Falls to Revs 2-1

New York City FC snapped a three-game winning streak after its 2-1 loss to the New England Revolution on Sunday afternoon.

The visiting Revs opened up scoring in the third minute when Lee Nguyen slotted a pass to Teal Bunbury, who netted a one-on-one goal to the bottom right corner. Nguyen added a goal of his own after converting on a penalty kick in the 80th minute to double New England’s lead.

Alexander Callens put NYCFC on the board with a header goal off a corner kick in the 93rd minute.

NYCFC dominated possession (67%) and had 16 shots with eight on target, while the Revs made better use of its five shots on target. Despite many shots in the waning minutes of the game, NYCFC could not get the ball to find the back of the net. Goalie Sean Johnson tallied three saves in the loss.

With the loss, NYCFC (8-7-2) sits just one point ahead of the Revs (6-4-7) in the standings.

No. 5 NYCFC will look to get back on track as it heads to Florida to take on No. 4 Orlando City FC (8-2-6) on Wednesday night.
