NFL Preview and Pick: Eagles at Jets

Week 13 is here, and the New York Jets are back at home preparing to face off against a Philadelphia Eagles team that has had a tumultuous season.

The Jets (3-8) are coming off a strong week after snagging their first road win of the season by defeating the Houston Texans 21-14. The green and white were firing on all cylinders and allowed the lowest number of yards to an opponent (202 yards) since 2018. They had a season-high 157 yards rushing, and Kenny Yeboah had a partially blocked punt. Despite a sloppy start from rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, the team found a way to pull out the win.

But the Eagles (5-7) are a different beast than the Texans.

Philadelphia’s defensive line is one of the best in football, according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh. Corner Darius Slay is a key player to watch during this matchup. He has three interceptions on the season and uses his speed to stay with whoever he is matched with.

The Jets’ offensive line also needs to stave off Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave, along with defensive ends Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat. It’s apparent this season the offensive line for the Jets has difficulty protecting Wilson, which is extremely important due to him still easing his way back from a knee injury.

For this game to go in the Jets’ favor, Wilson needs to be more confident in himself to throw the ball. That also means the coaches need to trust Wilson will make the proper decisions when under pressure. The offensive line must hold strong against a tough defensive line and defensively, the Jets must hold off rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who leads the team in receiving yards.

This game will be a true test for the team as a whole, as well as the new coaching staff in New York.

My Pick: Under 45 – For me, this game will go back and forth a lot with not much to show offensively.
