The New York Giants saw its four-game winning streak snapped following a 26-7 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. Along with this loss, the Washington Football Team defeated the 49ers on Sunday. The Giants now trail Washington for first place in the NFC East by one game.
Daniel Jones, who missed last week due to a hamstring injury, did not look comfortable at all against the Arizona pass rush. Jones finished just 11/21 for 127 yards and a fumble. He was sacked six times. Colt McCoy eventually took over late in the fourth quarter and was sacked twice by Haason Reddick, who had five on the day.
The Giants run game that totaled 190 yards a week ago in Seattle was held to just 78 yards on 17 total carries. Wayne Gallman led the team with 57 yards on 12 carries. Dion Lewis had the Giants’ lone score of the day, a one-yard run in the third quarter that followed a 39-yard catch by Golden Tate.
Meanwhile, Arizona’s offense moved the ball well all day against the Giants defense. Kyler Murray finished the day 24/35 for 244 yards and one touchdown—a one-yard pass to Dan Arnold. He also ran for 47 yards on 13 attempts. Kenyan Drake ran the ball 23 times for 80 yards and a touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins finished with nine receptions for 136 yards.
The Giants (5-8) will look to rebound next week when it hosts the Cleveland Browns (9-3) on Sunday Night Football.
