This Is the Most Important Season in MLB History

In just a few short days, Major League Baseball will be beginning their season, becoming the first of the four major American sports to resume play amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. While many sports fans rejoice that there will finally be sports to watch, the experience will be very different for both the players and the fans. Starting with the obvious, it is going to be a shortened season with just 60 games being played. In addition to the shorter season, there will likely be no fans for the entirety of the season. Changes in schedule and viewership are just the tip of the iceberg in what will be the most bizarre season of baseball thus far. But while it may be the most bizarre season, it is also the most important season the MLB has ever played.

Mahomes Deal Shows Just How Unique the “Patriot Way” Is

On Monday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs locked up Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes with a lucrative contract extension, tying Mahomes to the Chiefs through 2031.  The deal is reported to be a 10-year, $450 million extension with additional incentives that could take it over half a billion dollars. With his current 2-year, $27.6 million contract, Mahomes current deal comes in at a total of 12 years and $476.6, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.  This deal would make Mahomes the highest paid athlete ever, topping Mike Trout’s 12-year, $426.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels.  While it was important for the Chiefs to secure their franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future, the size of the deal has to potentially handicap the Chiefs in their attempt to follow in the footsteps of the Patriots dynasty.

Most Hated Boston Athletes in Recent Memory

Over the years, from before the influx of championships through today, the sports teams of Boston have seen their fair share of polarizing figures. While there has been a lot to celebrate and remember, especially in the past 20 years, there has also been a lot to look down upon and try to forget. GuyBostonSports’ main Twitter account (@GuyBostonSports) sent out a tweet the other day that got me thinking: who are some of the most-hated sports figures that have come through Boston in recent memory?

Keep Taysom Hill Very Far Away From Gillette Stadium

As the Patriots wait on Tom Brady’s free agency decision before moving onto a further quarterback search, many names have been thrown around as the heir to Tom Brady, including Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, and utility man Taysom Hill. While Bridgewater and Mariota have had success as starting quarterbacks, albeit limited success, Taysom Hill has not had that same …

Why in the World Isn’t Curt Schilling in the MLB Hall of Fame?

This past week, Derek Jeter made all the headlines by being one vote shy of a unanimous induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Receiving 396 of a possible 397 votes, Jeter has the second-highest vote percentage of all time, behind teammate Mariano Rivera and his unanimous induction last year. Much has been made about the one voter who …

5 Key Patriots Free Agents Not Named Tom Brady

When a franchise is as successful over a long period of time as the New England Patriots have been since the turn of the century, one player is often regarded as the most valuable.  Like Wayne Gretzky with the Edmonton Oilers in the 80s or Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls in the 90s, Tom Brady has been the unequivocal leader …
